Rooted Parent Update and Policy / Procedure Reminder

Posted by Jim Gardner on

Greetings Rooted Parents!

Thank you for your participation in Rooted - Children’s Ministry of Five Points Community Church!  It is our sincere hope and prayer that Rooted is used to assist parents in teaching the truth of the gospel to their children in a nurturing and safe environment.  I am writing this email to provide you with an update and some reminders.

Wednesday night’s Rooted Kick-Off event was outstanding!  There were approximately 50 children (newborn - 6th grade) who participated in the event.  Thank you to Karly McCafferty, Renell Gingell and Karen Jerome for all the planning.  And thank you to all the Rooted and Resolved volunteers who made the evening a success!

Also, if your child should be moving up a class and that has not happened on the system please inform the desk attendant(s) or Karen Jerome (Rooted CM Administrator).

As we have in recent years, we are continuing our use of the Gospel Project for Kids on Sunday mornings and New City Catechism on Wednesday nights.  Links are available on the church’s website - http://5pointscc.org/ministries/children/.  There will often be handouts sent home with your children to remind them of what they have learned that day.  We encourage you to use these to talk about the truth of God’s word and how the gospel comes to bear on their lives.  They are listening more than you know!  Also, if you don’t have a copy of the New City Catechism – it is an excellent resource for family devotions!

I would encourage you to find out who your children’s teachers are and thank them for what they do.  I am so grateful that we have such great volunteers who are excited to serve in Rooted!

As we have now kicked-off the fall ministry season, I thought this would be a good time for some important reminders regarding our Rooted Children’s Ministry Policies and Procedures.  Please recall that there were some changes made earlier this summer with the children’s safety being of top priority.  Rooted partners with the Life and Safety Ministry Team (LSM) to provide a safe environment in the children’s wing. It is important that we follow the newly implemented procedures to ensure that it is as safe as possible.   The drop-off and pick-up times are the most hectic at the Rooted Children’s Ministry Check-in desk and require us to be diligent in our attention to these procedures for the safety of our children and volunteers.

Sunday Mornings: Parents / guardians (or sibling 7th grade and older) must check-in their children (newborn through 6th grade) either on the FellowshipOneGo app or on the computers located at the Rooted Check-in Desk.  A guardian receipt is provided when the child is checked in and that receipt is required for pick-up.  Parents / guardians of 1st-6th grade students (or sibling 7th grade and older) need to pick up their children before service by 10:40am at the check-in desk.  They must show their Guardian receipt.  If the parent / guardian does not come to pick up their child, the child(ren) will stay behind the desk with the desk attendant(s) and an LSM team member will locate the parent / guardian and ask them to make their way to the Rooted Check-in desk.

Teachers:  Please inform the desk attendant(s) or the Rooted Children’s Ministry Coordinator (Karen Jerome) if any students that are still waiting to be picked up at 10:40am.  Please communicate clearly who the student is and if you know who checked them in that morning.  Once you have transferred responsibility for that child or children, you are free to leave and go to the worship service.  Please do not take children down to the worship service.  The children are to stay behind the check-in counter until a parent/guardian comes to pick them up.

Post Worship Service Pick-up: Please pick up your children within 10 minutes of the end of Sunday morning service.  This would be of great assistance to our Rooted volunteers and is most appreciated!

Nursery Workers: Will be checking the Guardian Receipt at any pick-up of a child from the nursery wing. This is for the safety of the children and our volunteers.  If a parent / guardian has lost their receipt they must notify the Desk Attendant(s) or the Children’s Ministry Administrator.

Wednesday Nights: Parents / guardians (or sibling 7th grade and older) must check in their children (newborn through 6th grade) either on the FellowshipOneGo app or on the computers located at the Rooted Check-in Desk.  A guardian receipt is provided when the child is checked in and that receipt is required for pick-up.  Parents / guardians of 1st-6th grade students (or sibling 7th grade and older) need to pick up their children by 7:40pm.  They must show their Guardian receipt.  If the parent / guardian does not come to pick up their child, the children will stay behind the desk with the desk attendant(s) and an LSM team member will locate the parent / guardian and ask them to make their way to the Rooted Check-in desk.  Children are not to be released to the gym at any time.

Should you have any questions about these policies and procedures, I encourage you to reach out to me or Karen Jerome at any time.  Karen is typically available on both Sundays and Wednesdays to answer any questions that parents, or volunteers may have regarding the Rooted Children’s Ministry policy and what is acceptable.  If you are unsure about something, please ask either Karen or me.  We are here to help!

Thank you for your fellowship in the gospel and we look forward to seeing our children become rooted and grounded in the love of Christ and filled with all the fullness of God!

Soli Deo Gloria,

Ephesians 3:14-21

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,  from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
