We believe the cheerful and sacrificial giving of our time and talents is part of our worship and a way to obey God's command to "love one another" (John 13:34-35). That’s why we value gospel-centered service.
There are a number of ways for you to use your gifts to serve the body of Christ for God's glory within and beyond the Five Points community. For even more opportunites to serve:
If you are able to help with any of the following opportunities, send an e-mail to email@example.com or contact the church office. An asterisk denotes the most pressing needs.
We are partnering with Restore Church in Detroit in reaching out to families in their community. About 150 gift baskets will be assembled from 10am-12pm on Saturday, December 12, and then distributed by their members the following week as a means to bless families and invite them to worship at Restore. Items can be donated or families or small groups can go and help assemble baskets. Items to consider donating could include hot chocolate, nice candies, small candles, hand towels, or other housewarming-type gifts. Contact the church office for more information.
Help us bless the families we serve through the House of Jacob food pantry by making Christmas cookies to be distributed with the special Christmas dinners being provided in December. You can also sponsor a Christmas dinner for a family by making a $35 contribution to the House of Jacob (mail a check with a note to the church office or place in the offering plate in a marked envelope). Contact Carolyn Stickney for more information.
Pray with a small group of people in the Library on Sunday mornings, asking the Lord to use the singing, praying, and preaching of his Word to do remarkable things in the lives of those in the service. This is a great opportunity for couples or Shepherd Groups. Currently, we are looking for people to serve on the first or fifth Sundays of the month. Contact Jim Novell for more information and to get involved.
Join a team of individuals who serve behind the scenes by providing for the audio and visual needs of our services, events, and activities. Training on how to operate the sound and video equipment is provided, so all that is needed is general technology experience and a desire to serve.
Our gym is set up and torn down by a faithful team every week for our Sunday service. Join a team of men who set up chairs in the gym on Saturday mornings.
Help us further the mission and vision of the church as we encourage our children to pursue their joy in Christ alone. If you have administrative and communication skills, we are in need of individuals to help coordinate volunteers on Sunday morning, primarily during Bible Study Hour. There are other opportunities to help advance our Children's Ministry as well. Contact Katie Carroll to find out more.
